Small cars: which is best for golf?

Today I will be answering a question that my grandmother asked me a month or so ago. This question was “my friends from Monash (a golf course in Sydney, Australia) were wondering what would be a good car for them if they wanted a small car that could still fit an adults set of golf clubs”. When I got asked this, I knew immediately that it was addressing practicality. So this is what I will be talking about today. also, sorry I haven’t posted in a while, I have been busy with school, so as a result, I have decided that I will stop doing weekly posts and go to monthly posts. anyway, lets get started. I will also put images of all the cars that I mention at the bottom.

Audi A3 sportback: now this car, in my opinion, is an excellent car. It has plenty of boot space, can seat 4 adults in relative comfort and has class-leading technology. how much boot space you may be asking, 380 litres. This mightn’t seem like a lot to you but if you fold down one of the back seats, as most golfers travel solo or with one other person, you will easily be able to fit a set of golf clubs through where the rear seat was and also be able to keep a folded up electric golf buggy in there also, but if you don’t want to fold the seats down, I’m sure you could fit it anyway. In the A3, you don’t need to worry about fragile things breaking (if you take fragile things on the golf course) as the car has air suspension which is absolutely sublime, but even without the air suspension it rides pretty smoothly. it is also pretty cheap to as the 1 litre, 3 cylinder, front wheel drive model starts at $36,000. It is also only 4.3 metres long, so it is average for it’s class

Audi A4 avant: if you think the A3 from above will be to small, then get this car. It is very similar to the a3 in pretty much every way as it has very good technology, can easily seat 4 people and has a very large boot. The A4 is also 40 cm longer than the A3, has 125 more litres of boot space and is $10,000 dollars more expensive. So my opinion is if you really want the a4 then go for it, but the a3 will be just fine.

Peugeot 308: If you want something that has the same sort of technology as the a3 but think the price is too high then you should go for the 308. The 308 has a digital gauge cluster, can fit 4 adults, but with a 470 litre boot capacity, it has almost 100 additional litres of boot space which will mean that the golf clubs will fit more comfortably and leave you with more room for other things. The prices also better as a Peugeot with a similar engine to the Audi a3 is only $27,000, which is almost $10,000 less than the a3. it is also 4.2 metres long, which is smaller than the a3

Skoda Octavia estate: Similar to the Peugeot, this is a car you buy if you like the a3 but think it is a little expensive. It is also very good value for money as the Skoda has a boot that is 210 litres bigger than the a3. It is also cheaper than the A3 as a base model will cost $30,000. it’s size is 4.8 metres long, which is bigger even than the a4.

Ford focus wagon: the past 4 cars have all been European so now it is going to change. the ford focus is a good car if you want something that is cheap, easy to live with, reliable and you can use everyday. This car has a 608 litre boot, which is bigger than the Skoda and is also about $3,000 more than the Skoda. The focus is also 4.6 metres long, which is smaller than the Octavia

Ford Mondeo estate: This car is for people who want something a hatchback from ford but don’t want a focus. This car is pretty similar to the focus as it is made y the same people and their cars are pretty similar. It is 4.8 metres long and has a 500 litre boot capacity.

Mazda 6 hatch: If you wanted a Japanese estate car for under $40,000, I would point you towards the Mazda 6 hatch. It has very comfortable seats, a good engine, a centre screen that most people will be fine with and a lot of boot space. how much boot space, 480 litres, which is about the same as the Peugeot 308. it’s size is 4.8 metres long, which is longer than anything on this list.

Cars in Japan

About 5 days ago, I got back from a 2 week long trip in japan. I saw lots of interesting cars there and cars we don’t have in Australia. So that is what this post is about.

In japan, some of the cars that I saw were cars called kei cars. Kei cars are cars that are built specifically for Japanese cities. This means that they are very small and have tiny engines so, as a result, they have minuscule amounts of power. The reason why they are so small is because they are designed to be able to maneuverer though very small parts of the city. I will put a photo of one at the bottom of this post.

As well as seeing these cars, we also say some regular cars in Japan. we saw lots of Toyotas and was nearly run over by a land cruiser that had had it’s suspension raised. In Japan, some cars we have in Australia have different names. A good example of this is the Honda jazz. In Australia, it is called the Honda jazz, but in Japan it is called the Honda fit. We also saw lots of Lexus’, Subarus and Mazdas, with the most-seen of this lot being the Mazdas.

But all this changed when we arrived in Tokyo after getting a 2.5 hour long bullet train ride from Kyoto. The first significant changes I saw in terms of cars is that there were so many luxury cars and full-size luxury sedans. we started to see Porsche panameras, Lexus LS 500h’s, Mercedes S-Class’ and Mercedes-Maybach S550 and S600’s (Maybach is the division that makes the ultra luxury trim level for the S-Class’, just like AMG makes the sporty versions of all Mercedes’ cars.) I will put a photo of all the cars that I have mentioned in this paragraph below.

New Australian police cars

Last year, the NSW police force got new police cars for the highway patrol unit and today I am going to tell you what they are. As well as that, I will also tell you a little bit about them. Now let’s get into it. P.S sorry that it has been a long time since my last post. I have been in japan for 2 weeks with my family – I’ll have more to say about my time in Japan in my next post.

The new highway patrol police cars for NSW police are the german Mid-size luxury sedan the BMW 530d and the American-built V8 Chrysler 300 SRT8 sedan. The NSW police force have picked these cars for 2 reasons. The first is that they have both passed rigorous testing and the second is that they are Police cars in their respective countries or continents, i.e the Chrysler in the US and the BMW in Europe. The Chrysler has a 6.4 litre V8 with possibly a turbocharger under the bonnet (perhaps if someone knows for sure you could let me know in the comments) and the BMW has a turbocharged 3 litre V6 diesel engine.

The BMW’s that were given to the NSW police had some of it’s standard equipment taken out to make way for police equipment, but the good bits remained in the car like the incredibly comfortable leather seats, perfectly smooth suspension and incredible infotainment system (in case somebody bought it at auction and wanted to drive it on the road. That is if they took all the police equipment out). The other good thing is that a normal 530d sells for about $110,000 out of the BMW dealer, but since most of the has been taken out of the police force version that price has dropped to about $65,000.

The Chrysler, on the other hand, has a bigger engine so Chrysler doesn’t have to do any stripping down, although I’m sure some bits were taken out as they had to fit police equipment, like the BMW. But apart from that, the majority of the interior has remained untouched so it is pretty similar to the car you and I can buy at the Chrysler dealer for about $80,000. Although like the BMW, I bet the NSW police has gotten it for about $65,000, which is like the BMW as well.

7 Seaters, Which is best?

If you have a large family of 3-5 kids and you don’t want a van then your only option is a seven seater. With so many seven seaters on the market, it can be very hard to choose just one. So I have compiled a list of seven seaters from all different car brands. There are cars made by the Germans, Japanese, the Americans and the Europeans in general. At the bottom of the page I will put a picture of each car in order of mention. Now that’s enough talking, Let’s get working.

Mazda CX-9: The Mazda CX-9 is a very good luxury 7 seater made by the Japanese. And although it has lots of chrome on the exterior, lots of leather on the interior and has all the technology you need it only costs $45,000-$60,000, which was a surprise to me when I saw the price tag. Also there is another 7 Seater Mazda makes called the CX-8 which is smaller and $2,000 less than the CX-9, which I think is understandable.

Mitsubishi Outlander: If you want a Japanese 7 seater that is unbelievably cheap, the Mitsubishi Outlander is the one for you. The interior is very minimalist with not many buttons and dials but the buttons and dials that are there are very well-labeled and do exactly what you want them to. Just how unbelievably cheap you may ask?, $29,000-$45,000.

Hyundai Santa Fe: The Hyundai Santa-Fe is a very good 7 seater if you want a car that is priced between the CX-9 and the Outlander and is made by the same sort of people, the Japanese. The car has quite a large central screen with lots of shortcut buttons which makes things countless times easier. But one thing has remained the old-fashioned way, the air-conditioning controls. These controls use dials for changing the temperature, just like they should, and buttons for everything else, also just like they should. This car also has all the safety equipment you could ever need and more and it also has lots of chargers for iPads and phones so the kids are entertained on long drives.

VW Tiguan Allspace: I am kicking off the German 7 seater list with an alright SUV. The Tiguan Allspace is pretty much the same as the normal Tiguan so it is a well-made, simple car you would expect from the Germans. The only difference is that they had shoved 2 extra seats into the boot so in 7 seat mode it robs about 40% of the boot space. It is reasonably priced which isn’t all that surprising, and by reasonable I mean $40,000-$55,000.

Audi Q7: What other SUV would you get other than the Q7? Everybody knows that Audi’s virtual cockpit is better than pretty much any central screen in any car and the central screen in the Audi is absolutely superb. The car has a lot of boot space in 5-seat mode and lots of leg room for the people sitting in the 6th and 7th seats. But all this incredibleness comes at a price, $97,000-$105,000 to be exact.

Skoda Kodiaq: This car is only one of 2 SUV’s this small Chzec company produces but it is definitely very good. Most of the controls are in the central screen but there are buttons and dials for the air conditioning and other important things. and the price is quite good as well as it starts at $43,000 and the top of the line costs $53,000.

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Hi everybody, I am a young car enthusiast and I am determined that if you want my advice on a car-related matter then I promise I will give you good advice. I have also had experience with this matter before as last year my grandmother wanted to get a car that was smaller than the car she previously had, which was an Audi A8, but the same level of luxury. My dad also is currently trying to find a replacement for his Audi A6 which is over 10 years old now. He is unsure whether he wants a dual-cab ute, an SUV, or another station wagon and I am helping him to work this out – stay posted.

My favourite car is an Aston Martin but I like at least one model from the majority of car brands. Below are photos of the Aston martin Rapide, my absolute favourite car, and a Mercedes GLE, a car that I think is probably one of the best SUV’s on the market if you have $110,000 lying around.
